Happy Valentine's Day, Happy 1 month birthday Bryn!
Paul and I left the kids with my parents and went to dinner at Bass Street Chop House with Cortney and Brian for Valentine's Day! We had a great time and stayed out too late! I hope everyone else had a wonderful Valentine's Day!
Today is Bryn's 1 month birthday! She has come a long way in 1 month! She is still a great baby. Everyone asks me if she ever cries! Not very often that is for sure! Have a great day everyone!

Today is my due date
Today is my due date and instead of having a baby... I went to the grocery store! Tomorrow Bryn will be 4 weeks old! She is doing great! I think Halle is fully adjusted. She doesn't seem to have any jealousy issues and pretty much ignores Bryn most of the time! She does love to cover and uncover her, give her her binky and give her kisses on the head! It is so precious to see them together!

How Preemie Moms Are Chosen (Adapted from Erma Bombeck)
Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen? Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Beth Armstrong, son. Patron Saint, Matthew. Marjorie Forrest, daughter. Patron Saint, Celia. Carrie Rutledge, twins. Patron Saint ... give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a preemie." The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy." "Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel." "But does she have the patience?" asks the angel. "I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has a world of its own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy." "But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you." God smiles. "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness." The angel gasps, "Selfishness?! Is that a virtue?" God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says 'mama' for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see – ignorance, cruelty, prejudice – and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side." "And what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air. God smiles. "A mirror will suffice."

Beautiful Girl!
Here is a picture of Bryn without anything on her face!!! Isn't it nice to see what she really looks like? It sounds like we will be going home on Saturday! I will have lots of pictures to post of that!
Today Bryn also got her pick line out. I was changing her diaper and noticed a lump in her leg. After the doctor checked it out he agreed that we should take out the pick line just to make sure the lump didn't worsen. He explained that after being in awhile the vein can start building up around it making it seem like a permanent fixture in the body. He said it can get very rigid. He was glad to take it out. We were too! She will get her last dose of antibiotics tonight from a shot instead of the line.
Grandparents got to hold her today for the first time since she didn't have the pick line to worry about anymore! I am sure they loved their snuggle time!!
No News is Good News
(first bath above!)Sorry I haven't posted for awhile, Bryn started making leaps and bounds with progress so I have been a little bit busy!
Bryn has been off of the ventilator since Monday and has been doing great. She is breastfeeding like a champ!! Paul and I have been able to hold her but no one else has since she still has the pick line. They are taking her off of her oxygen tonight, she finishes her last dose of antibiotics tonight, she has finished her lipids etc. etc. etc.!!! She may be able to dump the pick line tomorrow which I know will make the grandparents happy as they will then get to give her a snuggle! They are hoping to discharger her THIS WEEKEND!! The only thing she has to prove is that she can gain weight. She weighs in right now at 6 pounds 4oz. I am trying to feed her as often as possible around the clock to put some meat on her!
Halle has been up to see her a few times but is more fascinated by the elevators than she is her sister. She wants to touch her hands and her head but as soon as she hears any monitor beep she gets all excited and screams "ooooh elevator!" We try to just let her see her for short spurts! We asked her last night if she wants to bring Bryn home and she said "Yes Please!" We will she if she changes her mind once we get her home!!
